Lost for Words
Talking to Friends and Family about Race and Racism in the UK
Let's talk about race and racism in the UK...
Conversations about race can be difficult. They are often even more difficult when you feel like it's 'not your place' or you 'don't have the knowledge' to answer questions or to challenge racist/problematic statements. Add to this that people's emotions surrounding this topic often run high, and it can be enough to put you off engaging in conversations about race altogether!
Well, we get that.
A lot of comments in other areas of the internet seem to turn nasty pretty quickly, so we thought it might be helpful to share some positive discussions, resources and thought pieces with as many of you as possible, to help aid your conversations to start or continue, without them becoming sour.
That's why we created this website; to help you feel a bit more confident leading or participating in conversations about race. Because the battle against racism is everyone’s battle, and everyone has a part to play. We hope it will help to equip you with some tools that we have found useful during those tricky conversations online or behind closed doors that can simply leave you feeling Lost for Words.
Enjoy, and keep talking,
Jaya and Kãmil
